Doing the study thing

I’m supposed to be doing my readings for this week’s classes. I also happen to be crooning along to David Grey, staring out my window, playing with my camera, kicking my soccer ball and now blogging. I’d like to say that I’m incredibly good at multitasking but that would be lying. At least I look like I’m studying:

I get allot of study done with my feet on the table.
I’m actually studying for a class called Virtual Cultures which is primarily about communities that exist online. The chapter examines the constructs of virtual communities and how they form online identities. Here’s a quote that I had just read:
Howard Rheingold defined virtual communities as ‘social aggregations that emerge from the Net when enough people carry on those public discussions [using the internet] long enough, with sufficient human feeling, to form webs of personal relationships in cyberspace.’
It’s actually quite an interesting class so I shouldn’t have such a hard time studying about it. As an assessment piece we have to create and update a blog, or use an existing blog, to explore each week’s readings. I’m not sure if I want to use this blog for my assessment piece. The thought of lecturers reading back on archives is a little strange. We also have to add our blog to a class list blog roll so other students will probably stumble across it. If I use this blog for my assessment its like I would be taking you all to my classes with me.
Here’s something I thought was cool: The lecturer, who has a blog herself, covered our required reading book with a bunch of flickr user IDs. I wonder if she had to ask for permission to use their images. I think I’ll leave them a message and let them know that we have to stare at some of their mugs every time we have to study. How weird is that?
